The city’s Metro Police Crime Unit arrested a 30-year-old man for attempted housebreaking in Rondebosch East yesterday.
At 3:30pm, the officers were informed via a neighbourhood watch network that a man was trying to break into a house along Kromboom Road. They responded and found the suspect still trying to lift the security gate off the rails.
He was arrested and taken to Lansdowne police station.
Metro police spokesperson Sergeant Ruth Solomons said: “When his fingerprints were processed, it emerged that he’s also wanted on an outstanding warrant for possession of drugs.”
