The Luitingh Alexander Musical Theatre Academy (LAMTA) rock musical Spring Awakening returns to Theatre on The Bay from Friday March 8 until Saturday April 6.
Spring Awakening sparks important conversations about self-discovery, repression, rebellion, sexual identity and the complexities of adolescent life.
The show encourages empathy, understanding and open dialogue among youth, educators and parents by addressing significant topics.
Spring Awakening returns by popular demand after selling out in its first season at the end of 2023.
It is directed by Sylvaine Strike, who recently received a Fleur du Cap Theatre Award nomination as Best Director for her work on The Promise last year. Other LAMTA graduates who received Best Student Fleur du Cap Theatre Award nominations include Tumelo Mogashoa (in the current production of Spring Awakening) and Gianluca Gironi (who is in the upcoming Mamma Mia!) and Leah Mari, who was the “Maria” alternate in The Sound of Music.
Tickets for Spring Awakening cost from R250 through Webtickets or at the box office at 021 438 3301. It contains mature themes, partial nudity, sexual situations as well as explicit language with an age restriction of 13. Theatre on The Bay is in Camps Bay.
