Mawonga Overkarmer, Merinda Hill, the artist Kyla and Nur Felix perform at the launch of Artist With Purpose (AWP) on Saturday, April 15, at Ferdinando’s Pizza in Observatory. AWP is a South African initiative from the International Association of Human Values that aims to grow a sense of purpose among performing and design artists including vocalists, musicians, painters, poets and sculptors. According to project leader Tammy Abrahams Guyeu, “The event was a celebration of one love, uniting people during these tough times with song and inspiring creativity. We also celebrated the late Kimon Bisogno's birthday, as she was a community leader and spreading peace, through project leadership.” Observatory mother, business owner and social and civic activist, Kimon Bisogno, 39, died in a shark attack in Plettenberg Bay on September 25 last year (“Community mourns loss of Kiki”, Tatler, September 29). Bisogno ran Ferdinando’s Pizza with her partner Diego Milesi.
