Cape Ballet Africa has found a new home at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa in Newlands.
Founded by Debbie Turner, Cape Ballet Africa was registered as a non-profit company in July last year. It was using temporary studio space at Cape Ballet Centre in Gardens and Kirstenhof Dance and Pilates Studio. It will move to the institute in February next year as the resident ballet company.
This move was made possible through philanthropic support from a food retail chain.
“We are honoured as we work together to bring unparalleled cutting-edge training and dancer care, artistry, and athleticism to the heart of Cape Town,” said Ms Turner.
The institute’s CEO, Dr Mandla Moyo, said: “We look forward to the great social dividends that will flow from this unique combination of culture, innovation and sports performance.”
