The City of Cape Town has announced that fares for the MyCiTi bus service will be more affordable as from Wednesday July 1.
Commuters will benefit from the following savings:
· Reduced fares for Mover points in the peak and off-peak travelling period Â
· Monthly pass reduced from R850 to R790
· A reduction in the 1, 3 and 7 Day Passes
· Distance-based decreases for standard fare
Mayor Dan Plato said: “We are grateful to be able to give MyCiTi commuters much needed financial relief. With the reduction in fares for the new financial year, MyCiTi commuters will travel for less while we are bracing for the financial impact of Covid-19. The reduction is possible due to fuel prices dropping significantly due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.”
The cost of a myconnect card remains R35 and to replace a card remains R22.
Mr Plato also called on MyCiTi commuters to continue following the health and safety protocols during Alert Level 3 of the lockdown.
Commuters have to wear masks at all times and stand/sit at least 1,5m apart.
