Pinelands North Primary School hosted its first boys’ netball match on Tuesday August 16.
School spokeswoman Thaakirah Fritz says the under-13 boys team played against a mixed Surrey Primary School team.
“The game was played and observed with enthusiasm and excitement,” said Ms Fritz.
The match was arranged after staff noticed that several boys were playing netball during break.
Teaching intern Bradley Verheem said they found that the boys were enjoying the sport, regardless of it being widely known as a “girls’ sport”.
“Who decided boys can’t play netball?” said Mr Verheem.
Due to the friendly nature of the game, no score was kept.
