The Robin Trust, a non-profit organisation that provides nursing care and training, unveiled its new sub-acute facility Pinelands on Thursday November 23.
The facility, which was made possible by public donations, will take care of senior clients, according to Robin Trust spokeswoman Aletia Ritter.
It has a treatment area as well as two private rooms and two shared rooms with four beds each. The new facility is in addition to the current sub-acute facility that has eight beds.
“We have two private rooms for palliative care, and we also have the additional rooms that give family respite when they can’t cope with caring for their loved ones,” said the chairperson of the board of trustees, Cathy Miller.
Robin Trust trustee John Fischer, 85, of Pinelands, said the organisation had provided him with rehabilitation earlier this year following a knee replacement, and his wife, Ethel, 84, had spent her last days in frail care there before her death in September.
“She was looked after fantastically here; she was happy, and eventually she went to sleep and never woke up,” he said.
