Rustenburg Girls’ Junior School staged their play titled Wonka at the school from June 20 to June 22.
Wonka is based on the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. It was directed by drama teacher, Carey Hickson-Mahony and the original score was composed by music teacher Babette Viljoen.
Pupil Anna Bradshaw stared as Mr Willy Wonka, the eccentric owner of the greatest chocolate factory in the world who decides to open the doors of his factory to five lucky children and their parents. In order to choose who will enter the factory, Mr Wonka devises a plan to hide five golden tickets beneath the wrappers of his famous chocolate bars. The search for the five golden tickets is fast and furious. The five lucky children to find the golden tickets are Augustina Gloop played by Beth Dunton, Veruca Salt played by Zizo Gungu, Vi Beauregarde played by Simosihle Sishi, Mike Teevee played by Daria Jakoet and Charlie Bucket played by Melissa Merven.
