Bishops proudly celebrates its 175th year in 2024.

We began our festivities by hosting the annual Peninsula Cricket Festival, powered by Old Mutual Wealth. This proved to be a wonderful way to kick-start the year before even a single lesson had been taught, while also allowing many young cricketers the opportunity to showcase their talents.

Several outstanding performances were recorded by players from among the 10 schools which took part; however, the two most notable achievements were set in place by a couple of players from our own 1st Team, who excelled with bat and ball on the opening day of the Festival.

Our leg-spinner Peyton Leigh claimed a hat-trick in that match against Hilton, ending with a remarkable analysis of 7-45.

Earlier in the day, Adnaan Lagadien broke a 35-year-old school record by compiling a most impressive innings of 218*; our previous highest score had been set up by Old Diocesan Haldane Murray, who scored 217* when batting against SACS back in 1989.

It was an honour for the school to welcome Haldane and his family back to Bishops, following his request to congratulate Adnaan in person; these two record-holders duly met on the final day of the festival and enjoyed a conversation about their respective knocks.

Across a span of 35 years, they were collectively able to amass 435 runs in two undefeated innings, thus achieving the two highest individual scores in cricketing history at Bishops Diocesan College. .
