Cape Ballet Africa, in association with the Embassy of Spain in Pretoria and the Spanish Consulate in Cape Town, presents Breathwords, which will be performed at the Artscape Opera House from Tuesday March 25 to Thursday March 27, at 7.30pm.
The performances will be accompanied by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
In addition, Gerhard Joubert, South African award-winning concert pianist, will play for all three performances of Nacho Duato’s Remanso, which is set to the poetic waltzes of Enrique Granados, celebrated Spanish composer. Joubert also plays for the enchanting and delicate work Reverie by Kirsten Isenberg, which is created to Sergei Rachmaninov’s much loved Piano Concerto No 2.
Breathwords features two choreographies by Dutch and Spanish creators respectively, presented alongside an expanded version of Reverie.
The line-up also features the world premiere of whispers from within, choreographed by renowned Dutch choreographer Wubkje Kuindersma, set to Summer and Spring of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons recomposed by Max Richter.
Tickets cost from R250 to R495. Book through Webtickets or Artscape Dial-A-Seat on 021 421 7695.
