The Harfield Village Association (HVA) is behind a new project to support two Hanover Park organisations.
The HOPE project sees all the profits from the sale of tote bags and dish towels at the Rosmead Avenue SuperSpar going to the HVA for its partners in Hanover Park.
HVA chairman James Fernie said Maggie Palthe, who is part of the HVA’s social outreach arm, The Helping Angels, had come up with the idea, and Doodle artist, Quentin Horn, had provided the artwork on the bags and towels.
The project has already helped to fund the Alcardo Andrews Foundation’s efforts to build a kitchen for its feeding schemes and uniforms and equipment for the Fish Rite Hanover Park Cricket Club.
HVA has been supporting the two organisations since the start of the lockdown, and it held sandwich drives for them in May.
Fish Rite Hanover Park Cricket Club chairman Ashraf Allie said the partnership “is something we need in our country and it’s a good way for the communities to work together”.
