Getting fit for a good cause

Girls With Wiings, a non-profit organisation that distributes sanitary pads to the homeless and less fortunate, held a sports day fund-raiser, Fit4Wiings, at Groote Schuur High School’s Vredehof Sports Facility, in Rondebosch, on Saturday. The event included a seven-a-side soccer tournament, netball and a bootcamp. The organisation says it raised R13 400 and the proceeds were used to buy toiletries, including sanitary pads, for the needy.

The event included a seven-a-side soccer tournament, netball and a bootcamp. The organisation says it raised R13 400 and the proceeds were used to buy toiletries, including sanitary pads, for the needy.
The founder of Girls With Wiings, Koinonia Baloyi, said 200 people took part in the event, either as participants or spectators.
