Civic group hops into Hanover Park with Easter eggs

The Harfield Village Association (HVA) gave the Easter Bunny a helping hand by delivering some 12 000 Easter eggs to Hanover Park on Tuesday.

The HVA, which works with the Hanover Park-based Alcardo Andrews Foundation and the Hanover Park Cricket Club to uplift their communities, started an Easter egg drive at the beginning of the month.

“We realise that the donation may be a drop in the ocean for the amount of children in the community, though we hope to bring a little Easter cheer,” said HVA chairman James Fernie, thanking all those who supported the drive.

Hanover Park Cricket Club chairman Ashraf Allie said: “We appreciate this kind gesture and we hope that these two communities can continue to be bound by the good work that they do.”

Founder of the Alcardo Andrews Foundation, Avril Andrews said Covid had done a lot of damage but it had also forged friendships between the two communities.

“One Easter egg and one marshmallow will make a big difference to the children’s lives especially for children that don’t have,” she said.
