Irish pop star Ronan Keating and South African golf legend Gary Player have teamed up again to raise more than R2.1 million at a charity gala dinner and auction, at a Cape Town hotel, on Saturday.

Ronan Keating performed his greatest hits for the guests while former Springbok Jean de Villiers was the auctioneer.

The money raised will be split evenly between Mr Keating’s charity, the oncology unit at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, and Mr Player’s Gary and Vivienne Player Foundation, which funds educational materials for underprivileged children.

Mr Keating and Mr Player have raised more than R7.1 million since they started working together in 2018 (“Golf legend and pop star team up for charity,” Tatler, May 31, 2018).
