Claremont police clerk Lidia Eyssen will be a technical official at the Netball World Cup in Cape Town.
Lida Eyssen, a senior administrative clerk at Claremont police station, will be part of the officiating team at the Netball World Cup, which starts tomorrow, Friday July 28, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
Ms Eyssen, 49, from Kraaifontein, has been part of SAPS for 30 years. She joined the Claremont police in 2009.
Ms Eyssen says she has been appointed by World Netball as a technical official who will be responsible for keeping track of time, taking notes of statistics and keeping score.
“It is a privilege to be part of this historical event taking place in South Africa.”
Ms Eyssen has been part of the SAPS netball team for over 20 years. She became a technical official in 2012 after injuring her knee the year before.
She officiated at the African Netball Cup in 2019, the England netball test series in 2019 and the varsity netball tournaments held in 2021.
Lieutenant Colonel Lydia Hendricks, from Claremont police, who works closely with Ms Eyssen, said: “We at Claremont police are extremely proud of her achievements in the world of sport and in particular netball at provincial, national and now World Cup level.”
