The Neighbourhood Old Age Home (Noah) non-profit opened its new café, All Day Corner Café, on Monday.
Noah started renovating the premises, on the corner of Regent and Essex streets, Woodstock in November last year (“Good Samaritan gives Noah a boost,” Southern Suburbs Tatler, March 23).
The café will replace Noah’s Jou ma se Kos takeaways, and there are tables for visitors to sit for tea and coffee. The shop will also store donations for Noah’s Selling Seconds charity shop.
Noah director Jane Mills said they were working closely with a hospitality business in Gardens to support the new café.
Marvin Haddon, a representative of that business, said they would provide operational support, including ordering inventory, management and working on the menus, to the café.
Ms Mills said the café would provide work opportunities for their seniors. “It makes the seniors visible, it's a community-building venture that benefits Noah and the surrounding community.”
The All Day Corner Café is open from Monday to Friday from 7.30am until 3pm. It has free wi-fi and a simple menu that includes a variety of toasted sandwiches, fries and sweet treats along with a selection of hot and cold beverages.
