A Walmer Estate Primary School pupil died after being knocked down on Nelson Mandela Boulevard on Thursday April 11.
A Grade 5 Walmer Estate Primary School pupil died after being hit by a car on his way to school.
The 12-year-old child was trying to cross the busy Nelson Mandela Boulevard near Searle Street, Woodstock, at 7am on Thursday April 11, according to City traffic services spokesperson Maxine Bezuidenhout.
“This resulted in a secondary collision involving two more vehicles and the pedestrian was declared deceased by paramedics,” she said.
The school referred the Tatler to the Western Cape Education Department whose spokesperson Unathi Booi said: “This is a tragic incident and we send our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the pupil, as well as the school community.”
Provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said police were investigating a culpable homicide and no arrests had been made.
