Rhythmic gymnastics is one of seven gymnastic disciplines, combining elements of dance, gymnastics, and the manipulation of handheld apparatus, including ribbons, hoops, balls, clubs, and ropes. It can be performed by individuals or groups on a floor exercise area, incorporating routines that showcase flexibility, strength, balance, and artistry. In South Africa, the sport is governed by Gymnastics South Africa, to which Cape Town Gymnastics is affiliated.
