The Ottery-based Animal Rescue Organisation (ARO) managed to pack over 547 care bags for animals as part of their Mandela Day initiative last Friday, July 18.
Head of fundraising at ARO, Lindsey Concer, thanked the volunteers who assisted in packing animal care bags, which contain pet essentials. “We are so grateful to everyone who contributed, whether through time, donations, or spreading the word. Your support helps us reach vulnerable animals and the communities who love them, bringing compassion and care where it’s needed most,” she said
Ms Concer said that while the organisation’s hospital team has aimed to complete 67 dog and cat sterilisations by Mandela Day, they successfully achieved 73. “These animals came to us through our valued partner organisations, and every sterilised pet went home with one of the care bags you helped pack. That’s immediate, practical support in action,” she said.
Ms Concer said these care bags will be distributed to pets and owners as soon as they launch their new mobile clinic in the next two months.
