The 67 Kids to School campaign is underway, with five dedicated Grade 11 pupils from The South African College Schools (SACS) High School raising funds to help underprivileged children across the Western Cape.

Now in its 11th year, the student-led initiative aims to raise at least R67 000 to provide essential school supplies for a minimum of 67 learners.

Each R1,000 collected will fund a school kit including stationery, uniforms, books and a school bag - to ensure recipients start their academic year with confidence

Launched in 2015 by four SACS pupils and inspired by Nelson Mandela’s 67 years of service, the campaign has so far raised over R600 000, supporting more than 600 learners.

What makes 67 Kids especially impactful is its hands-on approach.

The pupils don’t just raise funds; they use the donations to buy the supplies themselves and personally hand them over to the children at local schools.

“The campaign is in full swing, and we’re asking the community to get behind us,” said Grade 11 pupil and committee member Marley Koch.

“Every donation, no matter the size, takes us one step closer to changing a child’s future.”

Headmaster Brendan Grant praised the initiative, saying, “Education is the foundation of opportunity. There’s an amazing connection between the children of our schools.”

With the 11-year milestone reached, the team says it is more determined than ever to make 2025 its most impactful year yet.
