The Claremont community policing Forum(CPF) paid tribute to the female Claremont police and support staff at the end of Women’s Month, marked in August.

More than 20 women from the Claremont police precinct were presented with gifts at a Newlands hotel on Friday August 29, which was donated by the community and presented to them by the Claremont CPF.

Claremont CPF project manager, Claire Terink, said they were thanking the female police officers and support staff for all that they do. “We are giving out some gifts and speaking to them about self-care,” she said.

Ms Terink told all the women they were always giving so much of themselves when they work, and that they needed to take care of themselves. “Sometimes, just taking a few deep breaths to reflect on what is happening around you can help, and also having a good work-life balance where you can work out how to create boundaries for yourself,” she said.

Ms Terink, who is a registered counsellor, told the ladies that they could reach out to her for free if they needed someone to speak to.

Claremont police station commander, Colonel Maree Louw, thanked the Claremont CPF for showing their appreciation to their women. “We thank the CPF for giving our women this special event and spoiling them with gifts, snacks, and refreshments,” she said.

Detective Sergeant Siphosethu Maxhaka from Claremont police said she was thankful to the Claremont CPF. “They have been available to us for most of the time, and even when we are doing investigations, when we ask for help, they will always come through,” she said.
