Westcott Primary School will spread festive cheer with its Carols by Candlelight concert on Sunday, December 7.
The Diep River-based school choir will be performing, in addition to performances by the Masikhule Community Orchestra and the Rosebank Junior School choir.
The school's principal, Amanda Fortuin, said the school will not only celebrate the joy of music but also the progress made throughout the year.
“With growing talent, expanding ensembles, and a deepening love for the arts, Westcott continues to prove that every child counts and that music is a powerful force in shaping young lives,” she said.
The Westcott school choir has grown from 48 to 68 pupils this year, which is under the leadership of teacher Christopher “Kippie” Siljeur.
“Our music programme has grown from strength to strength, inspiring learners and elevating the arts within our school community,” she said.
The school also has a drumming group as well as six violin players under the tutelage of external music teacher, Darryn Braaf.
This year, Westcott Primary was honoured with the Metro South Education District Enrichment Award for Best Art School of 2025. Ms Fortuin said it is a recognition they proudly attribute to the outstanding work of their Music, Drama, and Arts and Crafts.
Carols by candlelight will take place at Westcott Primary School, Myburgh Road, Diep River, on Sunday, December 7, starting at 6pm for 6.30pm. Picnic baskets, blankets, and Christmas attire are welcome. No candles are allowed, but flashlights or torches are.
Tickets are R120 for a plot of four people, and no cash will be accepted at the door.
For more information, call the school at 021 712 6600 during office hours.
