Senior citizens were treated to Christmas carols and sweet treats by Three Rivers District Girl Guides at Rosebank House Retirement Community, Cape Town, on Friday, December 5.
The district is part of the Cape West Region and the Girl Guides Association South Africa (GGSA), a youth movement empowering girls and women to reach their potential through fun, skills, leadership, and community action, offering programmes, focused on personal growth, outdoor skills, and global citizenship, as a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
Dorothy Holder, district commissioner, said that the visit to the neighbour in Alma Road, Rosebank, was their annual good deed. "The girls baked cupcakes and muffins for them and made some personalised gifts, bookmarks, and picture frames, brought them some chocolates as treats," she said.
Resident Lambi Zoitos said it was "wonderful" to have the girls visit and that he had learned to sing when he was their age.
"It's touched my heart so much today. I am really impressed with what you have done," he said.

Another resident, Naomi Clark, said it was a pleasure to have the girls present.
"Every lady enjoys singing praises to the Lord, and then they brought lovely treats. That was just the cherry on top, " she said.
