Heartfelt public appeal reunites Groote Schuur Hospital patient with family

Groote Schuur Hospital has confirmed that they found the next of kin of patient Shaun Bezuidenhout on Tuesday, February 10.

Hospital social worker Asemahle Fihla said Mr Bezuidenhout’s mother was reached after the Pink Ladies non-profit organisation saw a public appeal published on the Southern Suburbs Tatler website.

Ms Fihla said that Pink Ladies managed to trace Mr Bezuidenhout’s previous employer and then obtained his mother's contact number.

The hospital had issued the appeal last week in an effort to locate a next of kin to identify Mr Bezuidenhout, who has been hospitalised since late December with lymphocytic meningitis.
