Cape Town Society of Model and Experimental Engineers hosts exhibition
The Cape Town Society of Model and Experimental Engineers will be hosting an exhibition weekend at its club in Rondebosch on Saturday and Sunday November 25 and 26.
The club is situated on the corner of Erin, Duke and Campground roads in Croquet Lane behind the Rondebosch Croquet Club.
During the exhibition weekend the club will be open from 9.30am to 4pm. Entry is R20 per adult and R10 for children while children under the age of 6 enter free.
The money that is raised will be used for maintenance of the club house and to fund the various sections of the club with their projects.
There will be rides for the children on the 5 inch gauge live steam/electric engine. Mums and dads are welcome; the cost per ride will be R5 per child.
For those who want to try slot car racing there will be a huge track set up.
The following layouts will be operational: O Gauge, HO Gauge and N Gauge and there will be a display of static steam engines, which will be run off compressed air as well as hot air engines.
In the main hall the N Gauge Modular section will be displaying their show module which will be fully operational; Thomas Cullinan from BPM Tool Craft will be displaying various tools required for modelling and equipment required for building a model train layout (these items will also be for sale); Shaun le Roux from Cape Model Trains will be displaying various items of South African Railway equipment and memorabilia which will also be for sale and Steve Norman from Bestoys will be displaying model cars which will also be for sale.
The club’s surplus magazines and books will be on display and sold at bargain prices. Be sure to come early to obtain the best of the items for sale. There will be refreshments on sale.
