The Joshlin Smith trial is expected to enter its fourth day on Thursday.
Late Wednesday, the Station Commander of the Saldanha SAPS entered the witness box.
Lieutenant Lincoln Sebola, who has 37 years of service with the South African Police Service (SAPS), is expected to finish his evidence in chief for the State. Thereafter, he will be cross-examined by the defence counsels.
The court also heard that an inspection in loco will take place during the trial.
An inspection in loco is when the court physically looks at a location or area where a crime is alleged to have taken place.
The inspection in loco is expected to take place at the shack where Joshlin resided with her mother Kelly Smith, two siblings and Jacquen ‘Boeta’ Appollis.

Appollis, Smith and their co-accused Steveno van Rhyn were in high spirits on Wednesday and could not stop smiling and laughing as they took to their seats in the White City Multipurpose Centre.
On Wednesday, the van Rhyn and Appollis dropped bombshells of police brutality and near death experiences in court.
This comes after the trio handed over their plea explanation to the court, which was entered as evidence.
Members of the public continue to state their concern as none of the accused are seen being escorted in handcuffs or shackles as usually seen.
Appollis and van Rhyn are detained at Malmesbury Prison while Kelly is being held in Langebaan.
