Police are investigating after a fire gutted a derelict train carriage on tracks under an N2 flyover in Woodstock last Friday.
Roeland Street, Salt River and Milnerton fire crews responded to the fire near Russell Street at about 7am, says City Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Jermaine Carelse.
“Firefighters managed to isolate the blaze to a single passenger carriage and by 8.50am it was extinguished,” he said.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire was still unknown, he said.
Cape Town Central police chief Colonel Natasha Thomas said a case of malicious damage to property was being investigated and had been handed over to the provincial organised crime investigation unit.
