Pinelands North Primary School has introduced a peer-counsellor system to help pupils resolve conflict. The Grade 7 counsellors were trained last year while they were still in Grade 6, according to school spokesperson Thaakirah Fritz. The counsellors have learned how to mediate disputes and have grown in confidence, and the programme has created a “more peaceful and inclusive school environment".
