The Cape Junior Ballet (CJB) welcomed well-known South African-born ballet dancer Vincent Hantam as a guest teacher to its Rondebosch studio on Tuesday January 9. Mr Hantam, 67, was born in Ceres and later moved to Simon’s Town. At 16, he won a scholarship to study at the Royal Ballet School in London. He would later go on to join the Scottish Ballet. He now lives in Glasgow, Scotland where he teaches ballet, and he performs every year at the Edinburgh Festival. “I still love dancing though now I really enjoy teaching as my opportunity to give back, and there are so many gifted dancers in the country,” he said. CJB director Kim Day said: “He gave beautiful moving exercises and students were able to show their technical skills and performances.”
