Reach for Recovery Cape Peninsula launched its subsidised mastectomy bra for state patients at its first open meeting for the year at the Jaggers Bowling Club last month. The cancer support group worked with Shona Ferguson, pictured, owner of a lingerie-and-swimwear company to provide a locally made mastectomy bra at an affordable price.
Mercia Abrahams, from Reach for Recovery, was the first to test and try the bra. She is a trained volunteer who assists with prosthesis and bra fittings. To make an appointment for a fitting, contact her at 082 921 5753. The fittings will take place at the Reach for Recovery office, at 39 Strubens Road.
