The Robin Trust non-profit in Pinelands celebrated their nurses on International Nurses Day on Monday May 12.

The nurses' pledge was read by manager Corlea Viljoen and the St Francis prayer was read by Sister Karen Lister and a special nurses-themed cake was also gifted by a retail store.

International Nurses Day, on May 12, has been held annually since 1965. Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, was born on that day in 1820.

Sister Feza Muhawenimana, 41, originally from Burundi, who lives in Lansdowne, works with the elderly at the Nest at Robin Trust. “Nursing is my passion. I love what I do and I am grateful that I can serve others,” she says.

Sister Muhawenimana has 10 years experience as a nurse. She joined the Robin Trust team in February. “It is an honour to be part of the Robin Trust family and I am grateful that they could honour the work we do on nurses' day,” she says.

Ms Viljoen says they are proud of all their nurses at Robin Trust. “It is always wonderful that we can celebrate them for their hardwork and commitment.”
