Junior cyclists create personalised tees ahead of Sunday’s big race

The Cape Town Museum of Childhood, in Rondebosch, hosted the members of Heideveld Cycle Club (HCC) for a day of T-shirt design and printing, at the weekend. The museum encourages children to get involved in cycling, hiking and other outdoor activities. As such, the museum sponsored club T-shirts for each member. The T-shirts include their club logo and motto “Changing lives one pedal at a time” as well as a unique artwork that was designed and painted by each child during an interactive workshop. “The concept behind it is to recognise that we are all part a community, one whole, and to celebrate that that community is made up of unique individuals, each of whom bring their own skills, talents, perspectives and personality to the party. Each of us has something to contribute and each child in the club is celebrated for who they are,” says Sarah Atmore, who manages the Cape Town Museum of Childhood.

Atmore said thanks to generous donations of entries, help from various sponsors and especially the support of the Cape Town Cycle Tour organisers, many of the HCC young riders will be lining up to take part in the Cape Town Cycle Tour events this coming Sunday. The Cape Town Museum of Childhood is open Wednesday to Saturday from 10am until 4pm and entry is free.
