After a season-long lay-off, Baruch Entertainers are back with a bang.

Known as one of the more distinguished troupes in the Cape Town Minstrels fraternity, Baruch will launch their new theme song, when the carnival comes alive later this year.

To celebrate this moment, the troupe will host an official launch of the new song tomorrow, Friday September 27, at the Plug Studios in Paarden Eiland.

Baruch Entertainers are back to showcase their minstrel talents.

Baruch Entertainers will also use the proceeds raised from the event to cover the manufacturing costs of their new uniforms and other essential items required for participation in the upcoming street parade and competition.

Claude Jonas, chairman of Baruch Entertainers, the event would not just be about entertainment but “a testament to Baruch Entertainers’ commitment to giving back to the community”.

Chairman of Baruch Entertainers, Claude Jonas, is looking forward to an exciting minstrel season.

“Our vision has always been to give back to the communities we come from in any form possible. It may not change the world, but we sincerely strive to add value to lives, in extremely difficult times in our country,” he said.

Mr Jonas shared his thoughts on the significance of the theme song: “Over the years, our theme song has become a fitting item that goes with the theme a troupe decides on for the upcoming carnival competition. It’s about the fun of it, the creativity, and the unorthodox thinking, which helps create a wow factor for our band and our troupe.”

The new Baruch theme song has been crafted by some of the Cape Flats’ finest musical talents, including the likes of Taurik Blignaut, Choral Maestro Monwabisi Mbambani, and renowned DJ Neeno.

One of the top Cape Town music producers, Tarik Blignaut, had a hand in the production of the new theme song.

Included in the production of the song are leading musicians such as Laeeq Stewart, Brett-Marvin Edwards, Jonathan Linnen, as well as their famous “Jingles” members led by Morne’ Wessels, all from the Cape Flats community.

“Baruch Entertainers have consistently showcased their commitment to excellence, creativity, and community engagement. The troupe is widely recognised for their unique approach to blending traditional minstrel music with contemporary themes, making them a stand-out in the carnival competitions,” Mr Jonas said.

The troupe is celebrated for its unique blend of tradition and innovation within the minstrel community.

“We are a troupe who honours the tradition, in music and voice, but at the same time, we aim to conceptualise what we do by being creative. Competition is extremely tough, and it takes a lot of brain power, skill, and natural talent to achieve success,” Mr Jonas added.

The launch event will also be streamed live on Baruch Entertainers’ social media platforms, including their YouTube channel, for those who are unable to attend in person.

Doors open at 8pm and feature a line-up of DJs, including DJ Chello, DJ Liam Hans, DJ Taylor, Mr Morris, and DJ Liam Cue. Attendees will also be treated to a special guest performance by Dejavu.
