Runners representing clubs across the city take to the streets in last Friday’s 10km Run for Unity, hosted by Gugulethu Athletic Club.
Gugulethu Athletic Club rounded off the year in sporting fashion and did their bit for nation-building with its annual 10km road run, held on Reconciliation Day, Friday December 16, starting at N47 Stadium, at 6.30am. Established in 2000, the race billed as a Run for Unity, made a welcome return following a two-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In line with the spirit of bringing communities together, the race attracted runners from across the city and followed a route that took runners on a township tour, passing several landmarks, including the Gugulethu 7 and Amy Biehl memorials.
