Parents and children connected to the Sunny Side Montessori pre-school in Claremont can now enjoy a craft club, which has been part of the Claremont-based creche for the past few months.
The initiative, Craft Club by Sunny Side, is based in a building near Cavendish Street in Claremont, close to the Sunny Side Montessori pre-school.
Sunny Side principal Caitlin Munnik said the craft club is a bright, welcoming, creative hub where children, teens, and adults can explore arts and crafts in many forms.
“It offers drop-in ‘mini maker’ sessions, kids’ drop-in crafting slots, extra-mural classes like pottery and jewellery making, holiday club and themed birthday parties for kids, as well as creative workshops and relaxed team-building events for adults and groups,” she said.
Ashley Runganga, who is a teacher and parent, help run the craft club.
“Craft club feels like being part of something joyful and meaningful. No two sessions are the same. Sometimes it can be exhausting, but seeing people, especially kids, light up with pride over what they've made makes every bit of it worth it,” she said.
Ms Munnik said this craft club has been beneficial to their Sunny Side family.
“Many families enjoy the facilities, especially during school holidays as a fun, screen-free way for their children to stay busy and express their creativity through hands-on projects,” she said.
